Aquathin Rural Water Purification System
DESCRIPTION:
- Raw/Source water is poured through a felt filter at the top of the upper tank. This filter removes solids including coarse sediment.
- The hand pump is then operated, which pumps the water through 2 filters:
- an Aquathin Granular Activated Carbon filter which removes discolouration, tastes, odours and most organic compounds
- an Aquathin Aquashield filter. This removes and inhibits the growth of bacteria, viruses and cysts.
- The filtered water then runs into the lower tank, from where it can be drawn off using the tap at the bottom.

- Pump: Heavy Duty Cast Iron Hand Operated Pump
- Aquathin Carbon Filter: 10 micron Unidirectional Granular Activated Carbon Filter. Requires annual replacement or earlier if taste of water deteriorates
- Aquathin Aquashield Filter: 1 micron. 11 litres per minute maximum flow rate. Contains integrated antimicrobial "Microban". Microban is non-leachable, non heavy metal, tasteless, odourless and colourless, and has an antimicrobial life of one year.
