Raw/Source water is poured through a felt filter at the top of the upper tank. This filter removes solids including coarse sediment.
The hand pump is then operated, which pumps the water through 2 filters:
- an Aquathin Granular Activated Carbon filter which removes discolouration, tastes, odours and most organic compounds
- an Aquathin Aquashield filter. This removes and inhibits the growth of bacteria, viruses and cysts.
The filtered water then runs into the lower tank, from where it can be drawn off using the tap at the bottom.

Aquathin Aquashield Filter: 1 micron. 11 litres per minute maximum flow rate. Contains integrated antimicrobial "Microban". Microban is non-leachable, non heavy metal, tasteless, odourless and colourless, and has an antimicrobial life of one year.
